Okay, it’s not really the LAST train to Busan—and I had taken a plane, but movie references! Anyway, I got back from my first trip to South Korea a few days ago and it was a really interesting experience! Unfortunately, I didn’t get anything music related, as K-pop is extremely accessible across the globe. On my next trip, I’d like to focus more on the street music, as I had encountered several performers while I was on Haeundae Beach, but because I’d been with a friend, I didn’t have time to really think about it. I was also a bit stressed about money at the time, so I was too nervous to really get excited about music. However, I quickly realized that Korea is extremely cheap for shopping, so I’ll definitely splurge next time. MUAHAHAHAHA.

Anyway, although I don’t have any CDs to share, I wanted to share something from Busan, so I decided to put up a small playlist of music I’d been listening to during my sightseeing.

1. Akdong Musician “200%
I was really nervous during my preparation for the trip and this funky tune helped ease my nerves.
2. Red Velvet “Red Dress
There’s no particular reason I was listening to Red Velvet, but I really like the chorus to this and found myself listening to it while I was riding the Metro.
3.  Mrs. Green Apple TWELVE album.
I got lost on the way back to my hotel and immediately turned on Mrs. Green Apple to stop from freaking out. After the second hour, I was humming “愛情と矛先” to myself. It was quite a traumatic experience, but I survived!
4. Ikimonogakari “Last Scene
I’ve always liked this song, but I had started listening again after I made a new friend who liked them. Usually, when I meet people, especially under such sudden and unexpected circumstances, I like to try to tie them to a song. This was the first song I recognized on his phone’s music player.
5. Sekai no Owari “Present
This is another song that helped me while I was lost, but this was while I was going to the beach and realized that I’d taken the wrong bus.
6. Jungkook (BTS) “Lost Stars” (cover)
Once I had successfully found the beach and took the cable car, I listened to this while I drew Songdo Beach. I didn’t finish the picture, but it was delightfully relaxing. I had also listened to this on my first night, as I was eating shaved ice in the city and gazing at the night lights.

Although I was only in Busan for three days, it’s definitely a trip I won’t forget, and I hope I can kind of give you a sense of how I was feeling through this playlist. What kind of playlist did you make from your last trip?
