December 16th, 2020, youth punk band from Japan, teto, graced us with yet another energetic tune that has all the quirks and eccentricities we fans have come to love about the band. The video, as most of them are, is simple and features the band playing in different parts of what seems to be some partially constructed building. Matching their wild and messy image, frames of different colors and types flash against a passionate, screaming declaration from vocalist, Sadatoshi Koike. While I can’t understand a lot of what is being said,「もしもし?もしもさぁ」 gives us the feeling of a desperate cry, noting the fast tempo and the delivery of the lyrics.

Since their formation in 2016, coming out with ‘Pain Pain Pain‘, they quickly cemented themselves as musicians who were kind of ‘out there’. Their sound is nostalgic, taking influences from progressive rock and punk. They layer harmonic chords over complex progressions to complement their just as convoluted song titles and lyrics laden with kanji and word play.

Regardless of how good your Japanese is, though, there’s no doubt that this song will get you up and dancing, no matter how tired you are. Whenever I see teto live, they emit this exact same energy, and it’s impossible to resist.
